This is a yari with a saya topped with human hair! The hair is from beheaded POWs / enemies of the state during the mid Edo period. Grotesque but a first for me.

Top view of the yari saya in question.

It comes on stand of its own.The owner is really proud of it!!

Part of a collection

There were 30 odd swords in this collection, I spent 2 days there!

These are sayas being made/repaired. This is my saya maker's/ tsukamaki shi's place.

Talk about snow! This is a onsen jinjia North of Nikko.
